Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient controlling and monitoring of automated plant/machinery including:

establishing work plans

assessing operational capability and limitation of equipment used

assessing capability and limitation of work processes selected

conducting prestart, shutdown and secure of equipment

identifying and reporting all potential hazards, risks, environmental issues and ground conditions

applying problem solving and troubleshooting techniques

optimising production outputs

applying diagnostic techniques

conducting minor maintenance and adjustments requirements

conducting housekeeping

applying knowledge of mine emergency procedures and alarms

monitoring and operating manual and automatic ore transfer systems

identifying and solving electrical circuit problems

identifying and solving adjust control problems

apply environmental constraints and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the control and monitoring of automated plant/machinery that meets all of the required outcomes, including

using a range of communications techniques and equipment to convey information to others

maintaining written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating to confirm work/plans/specifications

demonstrates completion of controlling and monitoring automated plant/machinery that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

controlling data acquisition system and associated equipment

monitoring ore transfer systems through control and data acquisition and closed circuit television

identifying and correcting minor deviations of equipment systems normal operating parameters

maintaining written equipment records

controlling closed circuit television equipment

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in controlling and monitoring automated plant/machinery through:

applying legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

risk assessment and management

completing control and monitor automated plant/machinery operational checks

optimizing productivity

monitoring quality assurance systems and standards

applying DC and electrical circuit and control principles

interpreting and complying with materials safety data sheets and materials handling methods
